Few individuals have the resources to pay an attorney by the hour to pursue a claim.  People who sustain serious injuries and cannot work, and people who lose their assets, are even less likely to have the money to spend on an attorney.  A contingent-fee agreement permits clients to retain our services with the guarantee that the client will not pay anything out of pocket.  We assume the risk and expense of litigation, and we only collect a fee and our expenses from the recovery, if any, in the case.  If there is no recovery, we lose money.  If the recovery is less than our expenses, we lose money.  Because of the monetary risk associated with representing clients in this manner, our fee is calculated as a percentage of the amount recovered in your case. The percentage varies depending on the complexity and anticipated cost of the case.
